Wikipedia Entry: Island View Avenue, Branford CT

Island View Avenue is a street in Branford, CT located in the section known as Pine Orchard. The street runs parallel with the coast on Long Island Sound. It is a one-way, dead-end street. It is accessed through a variety of side streets connected to Pine Orchard Road including Lake Avenue, Chapel Drive, MacLean Lane, Waterside Road, and Brandegee Avenue. The dead end section of the road leads right to the waterside and a walkway out to the breakwater of Pine Orchard harbor and the docks of the Pine Orchard Yatch & Country Club. It is accessed by local fisherman as the quickest way to the breakwater which offers unique fishing spots.

Island View Avenue overlooks Rogers Island of the Thimble Islands in Branford, first discovered by Adrian Block in 1614. Also know as Yon Comis Island, Rogers Island hosts a 27-room Tudor mansion on a 7.75-acre estate valued at nearly $15 million. The Thimble Islands are famous due to the legend that Captain Kidd buried his treasure there.

This section of Pine Orchard is commonly flooded due to its proximity to Long Island Sound and sea level. During Tropical Storm Irene, the lowest area of the street experienced flooding levels between 3.5 and 4.5 feet which extended up Brandegee Avenue and to the edge of Waterside Road.

Island View Avenue is home to approximately 26 residential homes and falls under the Branford area code of 06405.
